Welcome to The Heritage Horticulture Skills Scheme (HHSS).

This scheme focusses on the practical side of horticulture and offers an opportunity to hone your skills to become specialised.  We have been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Skills for the Future programme to provide traineeships in practical, specialised, heritage horticultural period techniques. The scheme will operate for 4 years and aims to increase the number of highly skilled gardeners available to the heritage horticultural sector in Wales (and the UK).

The HHSS is run by a group of associated garden sites in Wales: Aberglasney, Bodnant, Cardiff City Council, Dyffryn Gardens, Newport City Council, Picton Gardens, Portmeirion and St Fagans.

You will be provided with quality, practical, work-based training in new specialised accredited modules, with an emphasis on standards of practical excellence.

The bursary is administered by Lantra on behalf of the Heritage Horticulture Skills Scheme (HHSS).

Lantra and HHSS welcome applications from all members of the community.
