We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic and motivated. You need to be over 18 (HLF funding rules) and have a RHS practical level 1 qualification or equivalent. If you have already done any other horticultural traineeship you will not be eligible to apply for this one.
What you will get from the scheme is placement at one of the associated gardens with the opportunity to share good practice and experience practical application of the period techniques at other partner sites. Your 14 month placement will be covered by a bursary of £10,000 paid in advance in five instalments. The bursary is deemed not-taxable as it is a grant to help with full-time education, rather than a salary.
